A snippet of something I'm working on

Its raw, not clean...just something I have started to work on...

Hey all, I have actually been writing a little bit and I wanted to give you all a little bit of what it is I’m working on. Hoping to get more of it done and get it up on Substack soon.

The hansom rattled to a halt, spitting mud and skidding for a second before finally stopping. The rain didn’t fall in New Londinium; it attacked. Needle-sharp droplets hissed against the gaslamps lining the Thames Embankment, fracturing the sickly yellow light. Detective Elias Thorn hunched deeper into his oilskin as he stepped out of the hansom. The damp wool stank of cheap gin and failure.

Reaching into his pocket for the fare, his hand bumped into the pocket with his pepperbox. A relic from his Crown Constable days. His badge was gone after his sister vanished into the Warrens five years ago.

Only a drunkard’s security blanket, he thought with a grim smirk.
